Peace-filled Forest

You know that saying . . . . "you can't see the forest for the trees?" I don't think whoever coined that phrase was in this particular forest. When I came upon this picture, it made me long for a hike in our beautiful national forest here in Santa Fe. It is so quiet and peaceful up there.  It might be time to dust off my snowshoes!!

During this week if you are feeling lost in the forest of life. Stop. Imagine some place that brings peace and joy to you.  I like to think of being at home and watching birds out my windows with a nice cup of hot coffee. We have a large variety of birds that come to feed in our courtyard. Which reminds me . . . . I need more bird seed!

Have a peace-filled New Year!

As I sit here this New Year's eve I am thinking about the many blessings that I have in my life. I have a beautiful home here in Santa Fe, a loving partner, two beautiful children, many dear friends far and near, a job I enjoy and hobbies that satisfy my creative needs.  I am blessed and thankful.

I wish for all of you a year filled with wings of hope, positive change and peace in your heart.

Peace for the New Year!

I really enjoyed making these peace suncatchers. Peace is something I think about a lot. Whether it's hunting for objects with peace signs on them or looking for books about bringing more peace into my life, it has become a passion of mine.  Earlier this year I posted on this blog about 1000 Acts of Peace. As a result of finding this website, I have become more conscious of how I treat people and how I work through conflict. Peace & Light

Merry Christmas! I just love the look of the farolitos that many Santa Fe homes and business have on display this time of year. I love the warmth that they bring to the cold temperatures and how their light reflects on the fresh snow. I hope you are enjoying a peace-filled Christmas full of warmth and light.

Winter Solstice

Tonight at the Santa Fe's Children's Museum there was a Winter Solstice celebration. It was a tad bit chilly so we didn't stay as long as we'd like to. There was drumming circle, cider, posole, cookies, story-telling, smores, bonfires and a farolito labyrinth. The sunset was amazing! Despite the chill in the air, it was so peaceful and a time of personal reflection while walking through the labyrinth.

Peace in your Window

I am scaling down in size on my clay projects for a while. Trying to make time to spend reading and also preparing for concerts at my school. These are small clay pendants/charms that were strung on jewelry wire with glass beads to catch the sunlight. I think these will look great in a sunny window in your home or office! I've even made some to hang from rear view mirrors. We all need reminders to be peace-filled especially in busy traffic!

New Peace Plate

I've been wanting to give this technique a try. I used a photo/image transfer decal on this plate. The iron oxide in the ink burns into the glaze. Can't wait to try out some more!
